“As you sent me into the world,
I have sent them into the world,
and for their sake I consecrate myself
so that they too may be consecrated in truth.”

MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Elementary School, Middle School, St. MichaelDear Parents,

Welcome to the 2012-2013 school year. We are off to a great start! Thank you for attending our Back to School Night. It was a huge success. I could feel the energy moving up and down the arcade!

This newsletter is dedi-cated to the wonderful people who have worked to make our school a standout.

First, we owe a great deal of gratitude to Fr. Manny and Deacon Carl for their dedication to the Academy. Thanks to their hard work, in-sight, and dedication, we have a brand new look and brand new cubbies! When you see Fr. Manny or Deacon Carl, please be sure and let them know how much you are enjoying the improvements.

Of course, it goes without saying that Mr. Juan, Augustine, Tony, and Gilbert were critical in keeping the school plant in tiptop shape; no small feat considering the ongoing construction.

Mr. George Milke, Principal of Mater Dei Catholic High School, enlisted six of his staff members to clean fans, wash blinds, and shelve library books.

Our wonderful PTG took charge by hosting the 1st Annual Welcome Back BBQ! The Campion/Wasilewski team took the lead in grilling delicious hotdogs and handling the used uniform and supply sale. It was exciting to see some of our new families meeting our existing families! Of course, the entire PTG Board was present for that event and many were present for the Wel-come Coffee on the first day of school.

Our very own PTG President, Bernadette Ramirez, was re-sponsible for copying and bind-ing the Student Handbooks. Mr. Scott Lemieux took the time to paint a white board in the 6th grade classroom. Mr. Bill Cas-taneda has been our tireless computer guru. (Without his help, this newsletter would not be possible.) Ms. Chelo has been here to help with whatever we needed her to do. Where else would you find such dedication other than at St. Michael Acade-my?

Not to be forgotten, Mrs. Liz Flores rounded up the SMA cheer-leaders to inspire us at Back to School Night. Look what they did with very little lead time!

I do not want to forget to mention Mrs. Rowena Lewis. She has been a tireless worker for all of our benefit. She has en-sured that things run smoothly, in the office, and out. I am very thankful for her.

I would like to introduce you to our newest faculty members:

Mrs. Clara Lopez is our 1st Grade teacher. Most of you know Mrs. Lopez from her years of service to the Academy in a range of posi-tions. We are thankful that she chose to dedicate her talents to SMA.

Mr. Brett Lillie is our 7th Gr. Homeroom, Science, Religion, and Com-puter teacher (for differing grades). He is an enthusiastic indi-vidual. I look forward to the ener-gy Mr. Lillie brings to our campus.

PTG CORNER

Your PTG is busy planning a year full of exciting events; some fundraising, some community building, all of them FUN! You will be hearing from the PTG soon to let you know the particulars re-garding the events planned. In the meantime, please keep Septem-ber 20th available to share a meal with friends and family at O’s American Kitchen (formerly Pat & Oscar’s) in Plaza Bonita. This is a fun way to meet and greet friends while helping the PTG raise funds for the Academy.
